Christantus Uche Ignites Straightforward Palace Victory at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Even though entering their first-ever European campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are learning very quickly. Missing key players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a comfortable result that virtually secures them a place in the Conference League qualifying rounds.

A further three points in their upcoming fixture against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to secure direct entry to the last 16, particularly after a prior stumble against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Seize the Opportunity

This match provided a platform for some of Palace's lesser-used talent to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second start since joining on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a clinical goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a another, scoring for the second consecutive match.

A Shelbourne team that had concluded their league season were outmatched against a largely rotated Palace outfit. The Londoners were already weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with knee problems.

Control Established from the Outset

In spite of torrential rain in Dublin, Palace quickly established dominance. A flowing move in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, let Nketiah to lay on Uche for a simple finish.

Youngster Adam Wharton came close minutes later, fizzing a powerful effort over the bar. Nketiah then claimed for a penalty after bursting into the area, but the referee dismissed the appeals.

Ex-Arsenal striker did not have wait long to find his goal, prodding home from close range after Uche's shot had struck the post.

Shelbourne were clinging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to escape a booking for a couple of agricultural challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the woodwork with a header from a corner.

Pino Seals the Contest

The contest was effectively over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past a series of comically weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

After the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw several individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse came close to scoring his very first touch, only to see his effort blocked.

Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then missed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still room for development in his game.

The only worry for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect night for the traveling side.
