In a unexpected crossover event that challenges traditional predictions, the game developer has unveiled an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, offering complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Mission Revealed

According to the authorized release, "A strange confrontation leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where whispers of forbidden practices and terrifying transformations resonate through the darkness." The plot introduces a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who charges the pair with venturing into the Gemstone Grotto—a important location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her companion from a secret sect.

The mission centers on "peculiar trials and a fearsome adversary" and is open to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Iconic Settings and Transformations

The trailer showcases the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was formerly where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through ages. The trailer finishes with a dramatic scene showing a character, likely the captive, changing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Rewards and Bonus Content

Players who finish the adventure will receive an exclusive katana together with several artifacts hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

• Titan-themed outfit for Yasuke
• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Special implements
• Survey Corps mount

Latest Free Story Update

This patch also brings the game's newest no-cost story addition, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade distinctive skills: Naoe introduces a performative version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Enigma" also features a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This represents not the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with popular anime properties. The series formerly included a 2020 crossover story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla informally included a quest that unmistakably echoed the well-known series One-Punch Man.
